This question depends on whom you ask. When I was talking to family and friends about doing a business, I get mixed responses. Some think it is worth having a go while others say out rightly that it is not for them. I remember talking to a friend one day about starting a business but she asserted that that was not for her. Her response went like this “I know I am a hard worker and am pretty good at what I do. My boss appreciates what I do. He is always happy with my work and knows that I can handle everything while he is away” Well I did agree with her in the first instance but on second thought, I wondered why she was good at working for someone else herself.
This is very common with all of us. I am not an exception. One day I was listening to someone who said that “If you do not do something, you will work for some who took the courage to do it” This cannot be further from the truth. The world is structured in such a way that there will always be entrepreneurs and workers. The entrepreneurs will take the risk or challenge and the workers will deliver.
What employees have never realised is that your employer will not take you on unless you have the skills that they require for their business to succeed. That is why you have to undergo a rigorous recruitment process. Whether you work in a government office, a charitable organisation or a private business, that is their business and they actually hire your skills to achieve their goals or meet their objectives.
Back to our question, whether anyone can do an online business, yes anyone can work for someone else can also do an online business or work for themselves. If you can work for others and they succeed, then you can work for yourself. This however requires a mind-set shift. It requires some who are used to being employed to start thinking differently. For the purpose of this post, I am only focusing on An Online Business because of the ever-changing Technology. Communication is very easy, and most tasks can be performed using technology.
In the past, self-employment came with a down side to it which meant that you had to work long hours, no holiday pay or employee pension. With a web business, all that has changed.

- Requires little time to set up.
- Operates 24/7
With an online business, it is much easier to start your on business and it does not require you to quit your day job (the one that you love or hate) you work at a time that suits you. Once you have finished the set up bit, most of the business is automated and runs round the clock.
Unlike the past when you required some skill, with the ever changing Technology, each task can be outsourced. All you need is an idea which can be a solution to a problem and how you can solve the problem.
